The Intaka Island Expedition is a wonderful way to learn the basics of photography in an outdoor environment right in the heart of Century City. This expedition is ideal for people new to photography or people who would just love to learn more about their cameras and how to take better photographs. Everybody meets at the entrance to Intaka Island (see map on calendar) at the old steam engine. The stroll around the big pond is easy going with many fantastic places to take photographs and although it is not the focus of this expedition, it is a birders paradise complete with well utilized photography hides scattered around the big pond. The expedition will focus on three basics, namely;
Camera controls
Exposure and settings
Photography and light
Intaka island was the site of a bird breeding colony before the development around Century City started. The developers incorporated and expanded the whole pond and wetland area and the contrasts between nature and development are clearly evident and by all accounts successful. The whole area is managed by a strong conservation team and serves as a big environment educational center as well. This once a month expedition starts nice and early at 07:30 and finishes at 10:30 and is conducted by John. The cost of the expedition is R 350 and includes entrance fees and coffee/tea afterwards for a quick chat and round up. Of course you are going to have to post some of your photos for us all to see. Please get in touch using the contact form below to make a booking or inquiry and also see the calendar below for availability.
See you soon.
